RAVE: Ipsy Glam Bag Favorites Summer 2022

A quick post to share my thoughts on two Ipsy Glam Bag favorites that I feel go above and beyond my expectations! This review, and the product links within, are not sponsored nor commissioned; just my honest opinions.

When my most recent Ipsy Glam Bag arrived last week, I was pretty stoked about this eyeshadow palette. I typically prefer warm berry or purple eyeshadow shades, so this was a refreshing addition to my collection, especially with Fall right around the corner.

I was instantly drawn to the shimmer shades, but a little intimidated by the matte solids. So I decided to jump in with an open mind and go for the darkest one (bottom, center) even though it was giving me major clown vibes at first.

What I love most about this eyeshadow is how incredibly buttery smooth it applies – even without any base or primer. It’s very soft and blends out nicely.

These shades are highly pigmented and stay all day without creasing.

Maranda, a plus size woman with green eyes and dark hair, wears warm neutral eyeshadow colors from Bellapierre Cosmetics.

My favorite part – the shimmer shades – seemed very sheer. In my opinion, too light to wear on their own. I applied some shimmer (top, center) lightly over the base shade to amp up the dimension, as well as the inner corners of my eyes (bottom, right).

The pearlescent white shimmer (bottom, left) is extremely versatile and can work to highlight basically any color scheme. I used it under my eyebrows for this look.

This palette is perfect for green eyes. I had my doubts, not gonna lie! I’m so impressed with it, though, that it’s definitely going to be one of my go-to’s for autumn looks. I actually felt comfortable going really dramatic with it wide out from the corner of my eyes.

It’s Only Natural eyeshadow palette is available directly from Bellapierre Cosmetics and retails for $25.

24k Gold Glow Body Oil

If I can offer any advice about this product, it’s “dab’ll do ya.”

I received the deluxe sample bottle of 24k Gold Glow Body Oil by Aminnah in my June Glam Bag and I was stoked to try it.

Admittedly, I’ve never really used body oils like this before. I put a few drops here, a few drops there… then realized to my chagrin that my face was shining like I’d stuck my head in a bucket of baby oil.

That put me off at first. It took me a while to work up the courage to try it again.

When I finally did, I used only one drop at the top of each cheekbone, then dabbed it around with a makeup sponge to thin it out. That did the trick!

When applied correctly, this oil feels silky-soft (not greasy) and shines like a highlighter. It leaves my skin feeling supple and hydrated, and it actually lasts all day (as long as I’m not sweating like crazy).

I love that it can be used basically anywhere on the body. It’s wonderful on freshly-shaved legs, not only for the radiant glow, but also for moisturizing. I like to dab a little around my collarbones and shoulders if I’m going sleeveless, too. It’s like beachy sunset rays even on a cloudy day.

The full-size bottle is £22 and available directly from Aminnah.

Tiger’s Eye Necklace

Maranda, a plus size woman with dark hair and glasses, models a handmade gem chip bar necklace featuring tiger's eye beads.

Last but not least, let me go back to the inspiration for the makeup collab: my handmade tiger’s eye gem chip bar necklace.

The lustrous shine and depth found in tiger’s eye stones makes it perfect for heading into the Fall season. Tiger’s eye features a beautifully natural warmth with varying shades of caramel and brown tones.

Just a little tiger’s eye can make a big statement. Gem chip bar necklaces are a great accessory for a minimalist look, or for when you want “just a little bit of” jewelry on.

Between the eyeshadow, skin oil, and tiger’s eye gem chips, I felt major golden goddess vibes. Love!

I make these gem chip bar necklaces for my Etsy shop, Awaken Gemini. Each necklace is $16 (free shipping). You can find the tiger’s eye style here. For more info about my handmade jewelry, check this post.
