Introducing Awaken Gemini on Etsy

Creativity and crafting is a huge part of my life. The launch of this project has been a long time coming! Awaken Gemini on Etsy will be the new home for my handmade creations and vintage finds. I’m really excited to share this!

A Shop Is Born

I’ve been selling on Etsy since 2011. I actually started with a handmade jewelry hobby shop, then gradually shifted focus to vintage home decor – something that both my husband and I are passionate about. But when we moved across the country in 2015, we phased out the vintage shop for lack of time.

Our first craft show in May, 2022: jewelry and felted soaps by Awaken Gemini, sharing a booth with my mom’s endeavor, Spirit Blooms by Deb.

Since then, I’ve made jewelry sporadically, and mostly just for fun.

But this past May, my mother and I signed up for a craft show benefitting the local animal shelter. I made about 100 necklaces for the event, and they were well-received.

That sparked the notion to build a cohesive brand and start listing them online.

My intentions are to create unique, affordable pieces of jewelry crafted with care. I want the things I make to be a reflection of my own style and tastes: rocks, shells, elements of nature, upcycling, bohemian vibes, bloomcore aesthetic, etc. I want Awaken Gemini to become an authentic extension of myself.

Gem Chip Bar Necklaces

Maranda, a plus size woman wearing nerdy black glasses, models a handmade amethyst gem chip bar necklace from Awaken Gemini.
Wearing my favorite bar necklace: amethyst!

I absolutely love crystals. Amethyst is one of my favorites, so it seemed like the perfect place to start for these gem chip bar necklaces.

When I’m in the making zone, I’m relaxed. Counting and measuring components, assembling chips on the wire and wrapping in the eyelet loops… I find the entire process quite soothing.

After I ran out of amethyst, I continued on with another chip variation. In the end, by the time I started running out of hardware supplies, I’d ended up with dozens of necklaces and seven styles in total: amethyst, hematite, onyx, turquoise, lapis lazuli, rose quartz, and tiger’s eye.

I love that this style is so easy to wear. Since the chain is fixed in place, they stay put pretty well. It’s the perfect little minimalist addition to an outfit.

Coming Soon…

Another craft I really enjoy is felting soap, and I have plenty of those ready to photograph and list. I also have some back-burner projects and ideas I’d like to try in the coming months as well. I’m fortunate to live in an area with plenty of undisturbed nature, inspiration, and resources available so the possibilities are truly endless.

I’m also still madly in love with vintage curiosities and will likely incorporate some of those finds into this shop as well.

More updates are on the horizon… I’ll post info here when new goodies are available!
