Next Wednesday, May 11th, my wonderful husband Arnold and I will celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary! Here’s a Throwback Thursday dedicated to sharing some photos from our Las Vegas wedding.
The Early Days
First, it’s important to understand that Arnold and I met online in early 2010; he as a native Dutchie living in The Netherlands, and I, a native Michigander, living some 4,000 miles away. Our relationship grew serious very quickly. We kept each other on Skype 24/7, even while sleeping.
Fast forward through 2010, during which we made multiple trips back and forth between our countries so we could be together. Yep, we were intense, and intensely devoted.
By the beginning of 2011, we started considering the K1 Visa option for marriage. But during our return to the States in February, circumstances changed and we decided our best option was to get married and file for AOS (Adjustment of Status). If you’re curious about the actual immigration journey, check my About Me tab and past posts on Visa Journey.
Choosing to have a private ceremony in Las Vegas proved to be perfect for our situation. We both love casinos and traveling! We chose Luxor as our venue since they had incredibly attractive wedding packages that included an in-room jacuzzi. The whole experience was delightful.
Luxor Chapel, Las Vegas
Our Las Vegas wedding theme color was lime green, which was really fun to pair with our black wedding clothes. I couldn’t believe my luck at finding the perfect dress on sale for $99 at David’s Bridal that fit like a glove and didn’t even need any alterations straight off the rack!
Arnold looked so incredibly charming in his suit… I was swooning over him the whole time!
We exchanged our vows in the Luxor Chapel, just the two of us… but it was recorded on video to share with our families back home.
We worked with an amazing in-house photographer during and after the ceremony, and I’d recommend this experience to anyone. I love how our genuine happiness just radiates from every single shot. It was such a magical day and I feel blessed to have so many lovely images to remember it by.
